Our PAC is the number one way Gordon families support our school.

Help save our VP role?

Gordon is at risk of losing our VP position as part of the VSB’s 2026–2027 budget. This decision will affect every student and family at Gordon, which is why we are asking for your help.

The PAC Exec has submitted a formal letter to the Vancouver School Board (VSB) asking them to keep the VP role at Gordon. Now, we’re asking you to send an email too. Individual parent and caregiver voices are incredibly important, and can genuinely influence decisions.

The deadline is Thursday, April 16 at 4:00 p.m. Please note, the VSB has indicated that all written submissions will be publicly available.

WHAT TO SAY

If you feel comfortable, it is especially helpful to share how the VP role impacts your child, your family, or your experience at the school. However, as noted above, the VSB will make all submissions publicly available.

Please include Gordon VP in your subject line, but we encourage you to make it unique so it’s less likely to be caught in spam filters.

Here are a few starting points you can use or adapt:

Option 1 – Short & simple

Dear Trustees,

I am a parent at Gordon Elementary and I strongly support keeping the vice-principal position at our school. This role is essential for equitable access to education; it is vital for student support, safety, and inclusion. Please reconsider this proposed cut.

Option 2 – Personal experience

Dear Trustees,

As a Gordon parent, I have seen the difference a vice-principal makes in our school. When the role was previously unfilled, there was a noticeable impact on student support and overall school functioning. Since it was reinstated, the improvement has been significant. Please keep this position in place.

Option 3 – Student needs & inclusion

Dear Trustees,

Gordon Elementary School serves a diverse group of students, including many who need additional behavioural, emotional, and learning support. The vice-principal plays a critical role in supporting these students and maintaining a safe, inclusive environment. Decisions based on enrolment alone do not reflect the complex needs of our school. Please reconsider this change.
